“If Our Teams Thrive, Our Company Thrives.”
How Columinity supports Agile Coaches at the LEGO Group to have an impact and deliver more value
“If our teams thrive, our company thrives.”
- Christina Mumm, Agile Coach at the LEGO Group
About one year ago, the LEGO Group started using Columinity to help their teams improve based on scientific insights and evidence-based feedback.
Agile Coaches play an essential role in this endeavor. We work with the LEGO Group's Agile Coaches to support them in using the product, increase their impact, and show their value.
This is made possible by:
- Adopting a shared ‘language’ by using the same metrics
- Surfacing patterns for improvement across teams
- Defining a shared focus to make an organizational impact
- Bringing the Agile Coaches’ voice to the leadership table
- Supporting self-managing teams aligned toward a shared goal
- Using evidence-based feedback to show the value you deliver
As Agile Coaches, it’s your job to surface impediments blocking flow and team effectiveness, even if that leads to uncomfortable or different-than-usual conversations. Your scope is the entire organization, but your impact is highest when you work with individual teams, stakeholders, and the people supporting them, e.g., their managers and leaders.
“As Agile Coaches, it’s your job to surface impediments blocking flow and team effectiveness, even if that leads to uncomfortable or different-than-usual conversations.”
By monitoring foundational ‘team effectiveness’ metrics over time and adopting a shared language around this, Agile Coaches can shed objective light on organizations’ blind spots. Organizations operating in complex and emerging domains that want to move towards outcome-driven behavior understand how critical this continuous effort is and how vital the Agile Coach role is in securing that.
Making this necessary impact — and delivering value as an Agile Coach — isn’t easy. As Agile Coaches, most of your work is about meeting resistance and dealing with pushback. It’s tough, but you can comfort yourself that pushback is a sign that people around you are still alive and haven’t turned into zombies. 🧟♂️
Last May, we got together with ±25 Agile Coaches in Billund (Denmark) to:
- Share experiences and discuss real-life scenarios
- Discover the science behind Columinity
- Learn how to kickstart teams using the product
- Explore the principles to support ethical usage
- See how the product is your companion in showing your value

In October, Christiaan Verwijs, Denny de Waard, Christina Mumm, and I will facilitate part two of this workshop. We’re very much looking forward to it! 🥳
I can imagine your current thoughts are:
